Week 2 - Session 1
Storyboard of a movie clip:
Movie: Lessons in Chemistry (2023) - Season 1 Episode 2
Storyboard of self-portrait video:
"I am a river, a tranquil lake but also strong waves.
I am a peaceful cloud on a bright day but also heavy raindrops on gloomy days.
I can be extremely blissful and pleasant for a second before bursting into tears and feeling blue."
Here is my current version of the storyboard created for the 2-minute self-portrait video.
As I mentioned at the beginning of this blog, I intend to build my emotions and interest through natural objects and phenomena because I can find and feel my inner self in almost everything around me.
Description:
I'll connect each scene with the continuity of movement of each object throughout the timeline and intertwine with each other. For example, the dripping water that appeared in shot no.1 would appear again with the zoom-in after another action followed by action. It means the water constantly drips until it eventually runs faster to enhance the slow pace turns much brighter.
The sunny day in shot no.9 is also linked with shot no.10 through the tram riding across and the sky turns into darkness and heavy rain starts.
The transition is also applied in closing the laptop in shot no.12 to opening the drawer in shot no.13.
I'll try to enhance the smiling face that appears in the very first stage and pleasurably closes the whole footage. It would be the most highlighted point throughout the work.
This footage is how I see the world and my life. I always imagine every person I meet, every place I go, and every story I experience is just another colour, painting the picture of my life. Therefore, I especially focus on the key that natural objects are abstract things to represent human life. I'll link all of them, which are everything happening in my daily life, into a continuous frame. They would be intertwined and opposites that complement each other.
There will be also me in some shots to express a few sides of emotion.
Applying some transitions such as fading to black/white also boosts the up-and-down feeling that continually changes within each frame. It will come along with sudden vibrant music to depict once the object changes, once my inner side transforms.
My purpose is to bring peace and happiness to the audience as they can observe my whole thinking process and how I overcome hardship to achieve the most positive stage of myself. The concept is going to be exploring my spiritual world and discovering many different kinds of emotions in life as relaxation and tension always come alternatively.
