Thumbnail sketching activity

Week 4 - Session 2

Post the results of the thumbnail sketching activity to your blog, and comment on which of your alternatives is the most effective, and why.

Here are my results of the thumbnail sketching activity in class. I had 10 minutes to produce 20 alternative thumbnail sketches for any icon or logo, so I should spend 30 seconds on one thumbnail.

I finally created 25 alternative sketches of the Spotify logo. I tried to produce more based on the original logo by combining the 3 initial lines and the meaning of this application logo and still maintained the triangle shape.

The most effective for me is the 22nd sketch (the 2nd on the last row). I found it properly symbolized the purpose of the application with the music range and notes. It wasn't too detailed but had potential enough to develop more in the next design process. The remaining ones were too sketchy and difficult to exploit and express the features of the logo as they seemed meaningless.
